This auto garage was transformed into the new home for the Portland Ballet, formerly Pacific Artists Dance Center in SW Portland. The large, open-trussed repair areas ideally met the requirements of the two dance studios. Newly glazed overhead doors flood the dancers with light, and provide interest to passing pedestrians. Generous landscaping buffers the site against passing traffic. A large oval canopy announces the building entry, and provides cover for waiting students.
This project received a Citation Award from the Pacific Region American Institute of Architects and Merit Award from the Portland American Institute of Architects.
